Trainer Profile“There is no substitute for hard work″ - Thomas Alva EdisonScott J. Heffner, BS, MS, CPT My Personal Training passion began while attending graduate school at Oklahoma State University. It was there that I was working on my thesis: Optimal Location Analysis of Fitness Facilities within the Oklahoma City and Tulsa Urban Areas. I was majoring in Geographic Information Systems at the time, and enjoyed my work as a graduate student. What I enjoyed even more were my days working out at the recreation center, and learning as much as I could about human anatomy & exercise physiology. After creating programs and guiding a couple of friends and acquaintances to fitter and healthier bodies, I decided to invest some of my credit hours in the exercise physiology program. It was one of the best investments I could have made. After taking courses and lab work at the university, I realized I might be in the wrong field of study. So I finished my thesis, attained my graduate degree, and decided to attain a nationally recognized Personal Training certification. And so it began… Five years later, I am the Personal Training Director for the 4 Gold’s Gyms of Kansas City. Since 2001, I have been an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, and most recently added a NASM Personal Training certification to my credentials. I currently hold an American Heart Association CPR certification as well. I constantly attain knowledge and understanding of the new research, current industry trends, and newest training methods to stay at the top of my profession. I have worked with a wide range of clientele: Housewives, Professional Athletes, Youth, Senior Citizens, Rehabilitation, Baby Boomers, Bodybuilders, Tennis & Golf Players, Special Populations with unique health problems, and many others. I’ve worked in a number of areas of specialization including Sport Performance, Body Transformation, Bodybuilding, Alignment Assessment, Myofascial Release Techniques and Weight Loss. Each area may focus on different ways of training, but all are equally rewarding. Helping individuals realize they can achieve a more enjoyable, balanced lifestyle when they are educated in all of the important aspects of health and fitness is what it’s all about. When I see my client’s progress toward and beyond their initial goals, and that they make health and fitness a part of their everyday lifestyle, it is the most exhilarating and rewarding part of why I do what I do. Now let me do the same for YOU. |
